Beating all odds, Dick Clegg

Drennan Team England boss Dick Clegg has achieved some sort of world record of his own in the past world championship matches. In every WC match since 1993 Dick has pulled peg number 18 in the draw. In 1993 he drew peg 18 twice and the team finished 9th overall, a real disaster for them. In 1994 he drew 18 twice after having drawn 18 for the drawing order too! his team went on and won the team title and Bob Nudd won the individual title as well. In that 1994 draw the Hungarian team captain announced before Dick's second draw that if he again draws 18, he will receive a special prize. And when Dick saw number 18 in his ticket, he went straight to the hungarian with his hand reaching for the prize

In 1995 everyone was chanting "18 18 18 .." when it was Dick's turn to draw. And he drew 18 on the first day! On the second day when the draw was changed to random (that is, the team didn't fish from the same number on the sections, but everyone had their own number) he pulled peg 18 out of the hat for Kim Milsom!

His record seems to be unbelievable. The probability for drawing number 18 6 times in a row for his team in those championships is 1/535 387 328. And in fact in 1992 they fished peg 18 on the first day, so the record is 6 times in a row and once more
